Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is a predominantly ground based martial art which focuses on the understanding of body mechanics and leverage rather than aggression and strength to successfully defeat an ‘opponent’.
To use a modern reference, most of what you see in MMA (the UFC for example) is Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.
Throws, sweeps, chokes and joint locks are utilised to maintain a dominant position over one’s opponent or training partner
No Gi BJJ is essentially the same as conventional BJJ without wearing the traditional kimono (Gi).
The majority of the rules and principles
are the same.
No Gi BJJ has seen an explosion of popularity recently due to professional events such as ADCC, Polaris and Grapplefest.
At RRBJJ we cater for both skills, with all instructors experts in their fields with a wealth of experience across all competition formats.
Whether you’re looking to start BJJ for confidence, self-defence, to get in shape, to
make lasting friendships or to compete we have classes that suit your requirement.
